Sources close to both fighters have said that this fight does definitely seem to be on the cards, although it isn’t fully set up yet.
The bout is rumoured to be on the September 27th UFC 178 card in MGM Grand Garden Arena. The event is being headlined by Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier, also Dustin Poirier is taking on Conor McGregor. If you add Cerrone and Alvarez to this line up, it is fast becoming a potential fight card of the year candidate.
Eddie Alvarez has had some major contract issues over the past year and back and forth with former CEO Bjorn Rebney. Now it appears Scott Coker has no intentions of tying up Eddie’s career any longer and is willing to let him go fight in the UFC. Meanwhile ‘The Cowboy’ is on a 4 fight streak all wins via finish.
