Hopefully after a lengthy period of being at odds with the UFC, after inking a new improved 4 fight contract, Al Iaquinta can finally move on with his stop start career. Iaquinta is 13-3-1 and is coming off a win over Diego Sanchez, but he has been at loggerheads with the UFC over his old contract.
Iaquinta was prepared to walk away from the sport such was his frustration with his old deal, and he hadn’t fought in the Octagon since his win over Sanchez in April of last year. Iaquinta got $52,000 for the Sanchez win and says the new deal is worth 3 times his old one.
With only one defeat in his last 9 fights and being ranked in the Top 10 of the stacked Lightweight division, Iaquinta will hope he can now make up for last time, and climb the rankings and try and earn himself a title shot.
Paul Felder will be in the opposite corner when Iaquinta returns in April at UFC 223.
