30 Jan Ronda Rousey, MMA, And The WWE
So the rumours are true the denials not so, Ronda Rousey appeared overnight at the WWE PPV Royal Rumble and confirmed she has signed a full-time deal with the WWE.
With Dana White hoping that big names like Jon Jones, Brock Lesnar and Conor McGregor will return this year for its big 25th anniversary year, Rousey won’t be joining them.
Rousey if she is done with MMA, leaves the sport with a 12-2 record, and one of the biggest PPV draws the UFC ever had.
There is no doubt Rousey had a spectacular rise to mainstream superstardom, and an equally spectacular fall also. During her run with the UFC, Rousey branched out into the film world and that with other commitments almost certainly led to her fall from grace in the MMA world.
Rousey is almost certainly done with MMA now, you can look at her last two fights, two shocking defeats, the Nunes one, for me was one of the saddest sights you will ever see, a once great champion suffering a quick one-sided defeat like she experienced.
But those last two fights don’t tell the whole story and what came before.
She’s not the reason why women are in the UFC, they would have got there eventually, but because of Rousey, they got there a hell of a lot sooner.
