The Jaguars of Mexico – featuring UFC fighters Irene Aldana and Alexa Grasso

Mexico is a proud country with a deep fighting heritage. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will meet two Mexican jaguars looking to pounce on their respective divisions.

Irene Aldana –A professional since October 2012 and representing Lobo MMA, Irene Aldana owns an 8-4 record in 12 career bouts consisting of five knockouts, two submissions and one decision. Prior to making her UFC debut in 2016, Aldana competed for the leading women’s MMA organization in Invicta Fighting Championships. In her MMA debut, she knocked out Sandra del Rincon in the first round. Then Aldana knocked out Flor Saenz in round one. She also knocked out Mayra Arce in the first round. In her Invicta FC debut at Invicta FC 8, Aldana submitted The Ultimate Fighter season 18 alumni Peggy Morgan in the first round via rear naked choke. She also tapped out Colleen Schneider via rear naked choke in round one in her second Invicta FC appearance at Invicta FC 11. At Invicta FC 16, Aldana defeated The Ultimate Fighter season 18 alumni and Invicta FC veteran Jessamyn Duke via TKO in the first round. In her final appearance with Invicta FC at Invicta FC 19, she defeated Faith van Duin via TKO in the first round. In her third UFC outing at UFN 124, Aldana defeated Brazil’s Talita Bernarado via unanimous decision to earn her first victory with the UFC. Do not mess with this Mexican jaguar or you will get the claws!

Alexa Grasso –A professional since December 2012 and representing Lobo MMA, Alexa Grasso owns a 10-1 record in 11 career bouts consisting of six decisions and four knockouts. Prior to making her UFC debut in 2016, Grasso competed with Invicta FC. In her MMA debut, she knocked out Sandra del Rincon in the first round. Grasso defeated her next two opponents in Alejandra Alvarez and Lupitia Hernandez. Then she defeated Karina Rodriguez via unanimous decision. In her Invicta FC debut at Invicta FC 8, Grasso defeated Ashley Cummins via unanimous decision. She defeated Alida Gray via TKO in the first round in her second Invicta FC appearance at Invicta FC 10. Grasso defeated Japan’s Mizuki Inoue via unanimous decision at Invicta FC 11. In her final appearance with Invicta FC at Invicta FC 18, she defeated Jodie Esquibel via unanimous decision. In her UFC debut at UFN 98, Grasso defeated Heather Jo Clark via unanimous decision. In her third UFC outing at UFN 114, she defeated Canada’s Randa Markos via split decision. For her next UFC appearance at UFN 129 on May 19, Grasso will face TUF 23 winner Tatiana Suarez in a women’s strawweight encounter. Good luck Alexa!
