25 Jul Tom ‘Kong’ Watson Returns To BAMMA
After a three-year absence from MMA, BAMMA former Middleweight Champion Tom ‘Kong ’ Watson is returning to the promotion.
Watson, who still holds the record of the two most viewed televised MMA fights in UK history, has signed a multi-fight deal with the promotion where he made his name. After teasing his comeback on social media recently, the man who helped launch MMA into the mainstream in the UK has returned home, to take on this new generation of fighters and reclaim the title he never lost before departing for the UFC.
BAMMA MD Ashley Bothwell:
“We are delighted that Tom ‘Kong’ Watson has decided to return to MMA. He is coming back in a big way and is already putting potential opponents on notice. There is no doubt that he will bring his trademark power and intensity to his bouts, and he can also now call upon years of experience at the very top. He is such a huge name in UK MMA and it’s a massive lift for the sport having Tom ‘Kong’ Watson back in business!”
Tom ‘Kong’ Watson:
”I’m going to reclaim my spot at the top, no one is safe”
Watson, who is best remembered for his ferocious battles with Alex ‘Reidernator’ Reid and Murilo ‘Ninja’ Rua (which can be viewed on the official BAMMA YouTube channel), has always stayed in peak physical condition and is planning to pick up where he left off and that means looking for titles.
His return fight will be announced in the coming weeks, and you can be sure that it will be one of the most anticipated MMA bouts of the year.
