02 Nov Harry McKnight vs Eddie Johnson plus more announced for Cage Warriors Academy NW 4
Bouts are being announced for the upcoming Cage Warriors Academy North West 4 at Eventim Olympia in Liverpool on Saturday 1st December 2018.
Harry McKnight from Next Generation MMA in Liverpool will face Eddie Johnson from HAMMA in St. Helens, Merseyside in a professional Featherweight bout.
McKnight – who trains with the likes of Chris Fishgold, Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett, Rosi Sexton, Dean Garnett and Molly ‘Meatball’ McCann – will be making his pro debut that evening after winning his last two fights at the amateur level.
He is currently the #82 ranked UK/Ireland Amateur Lightweight according to Tapology. Interestingly, he has competed as both a lightweight and a welterweight on the amateur scene but this will be his first time fighting as a featherweight.
Eddie Johnson only has one victory on his pro record – a first-round submission against Will Cairns (0-30-0) in May 2018. He also has only one victory as an amateur – another submission against Hayden Sherriff (0-8-0) – so he has no easy task in front of him.
Johnson must avoid being phased by the rather intimidating group of training partners McKnight is surrounded by. However, HAMMA affiliates Ashley ‘The Beast’ Reece, Connor ‘Hand Grenade’ Hignett and Bobby ‘The Body Snatcher’ Pallett (who is also fighting that evening) have all had success in pro MMA and will no doubt be pushing Johnson in training in what is a battle for dominance between two gyms in the Merseyside area.
Here are some other fights that have been announced for December 1st:
Bobby Pallet (3-0) vs Ayo Daly (1-1) – Pro Welterweight
Adam Ventre (6-3) vs Mahmod Faour (5-2) – Pro Lightweight
Mohammad Mokaev (Aspire CSA) vs Jamie Small (Next Gen MMA) – Amateur Bantamweight Title
Liam Thornton (Masda Gym) vs Harrison Teare (Supergym CSA) – Amateur Middleweight
Charlotte Cooper (12 Gauge MMA) vs Faye Rodgers (HAMMA) – Amateur Bantamweight
Mark Whittingham (Masda Gym) vs Teddy Stringer (52 Degrees MMA) – Amateur Lightweight
