Across the Pond Profile: Invicta FC fighter Mariya Agapova

For most of the female hopefuls on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series, appearing on the show could very well lead to a call from Invicta Fighting Championships. In today’s episode of Across the Pond, you will be introduced to a bringer of blizzards from the far east ready to encase the Invicta FC flyweight division in a sheath of solid ice and take her rightful place as queen of the flyweights at just 22 years of age. A professional since August 2015 and representing American Top Team, Mariya Agapova owns an 8-1 record in nine professional bouts comprised of three submissions, three knockouts and two decisions. Agapova is currently 2-0 under the banner of Invicta Fighting Championships and appeared on week six during the third season of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series in 2019. She has managed to secure a finish in six of her eight professional victories.

In her MMA debut at WFCA 8, she defeated Yulitya Ivanova via unanimous decision. Agapova also defeated her next two opponents in Yulia Livinceva and Dariya Kutuzova. Then at Fight Nights Global 72, she faced Yulia Kutsenko and submitted her in the third round via armbar. Agapova also defeated Lilya Kazak via split decision at Fight Nights Global 82. At Heroine Fighting Championship 2 she defeated Na Liang via TKO in round one.

In the second Invicta Fighting Championships phoenix rising tournament, Agapova faced Alexa Conners and went on to tap her out via rear-naked choke in the first round. For the co-main event of Invicta FC 37 she defeated Brazil’s Marila Santos via TKO in round one to earn back to back wins with Invicta Fighting Championships. The win also earned Agapova the third knockout win of her professional career. With youth and impressive finishing power on her side, flyweights are about to experience an icy chill in the air come 2020!
