Across the Pond Profile: Cage Warriors fighter Paul Hughes

It takes time for mixed martial artists to get into a rhythm of consistency after clearing a mountain of setbacks like nagging injury bugs or having to tweak and retool the gameplan each and every time an opponent pulls out of a fight. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will be introduced to a Irish spartan ready to charge like lightning into battle in enemy territory and come away with a decisive victory along with showcase his ever-evolving arsenal of terror in hopes of reaching the second tier of the featherweight ladder and further cement himself as a prospect with a steely glint of danger in his eye each time the cage door closes in Cage Warriors at Cage Warriors 112 on March 7. A professional since February 2017 and representing Fight Academy Ireland, Paul Hughes owns an undefeated 4-0 record comprised of two submissions and two knockouts. He is currently 1-0 under the banner of Cage Warriors and has also fought for BAMMA and Cage Conflict. Hughes has gone on to earn a finish in all four of his victories and has yet to see the second round in his professional career.

In his MMA debut at BAMMA 28, he faced Poland’s Adam Gustab and went on to defeat him via TKO in the first round. Hughes also defeated Stephen O’ Neil via TKO in round one at Cage Conflict 1. Then in his debut appearance with Cage Warriors at Cage Warriors Unplugged 2, he submitted Mateusz Makarowski of Poland in the first round via rear-naked choke to pick up his first win in Cage Warriors. Hughes also tapped out France’s Kalifa Seydi via rear-naked choke in round one in the headliner of Cage Conflict 2 Hellraiser.

For his second outing with Cage Warriors at Cage Warriors 112 on March 7, he will face Antonio Sheldon in a catchweight at 150 pounds. Good luck Paul!
