UFC Fighter Irwin Rivera Charged With Attempted Murder

UFC fighter Irwin Rivera has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing both of his sisters.

According to online jail records, Rivera was arrested by Boynton Beach Police Department and is being held without bail.

Both sisters were found with multiple stab wounds. One of the sisters informed the police that they were staying with their brother, Rivera, in one of his spare rooms and they awoke to him repeatedly stabbing them with a knife in the middle of the night. Both sisters survived the attack and were both taken to hospital.

Rivera has admitted trying to stab his sisters with a brass knuckle knife saying he was told to do so by a higher power.

UFC has released a statement

UFC is aware of the recent incident involving Irwin Rivera and subsequently received information from his management that he has been exhibiting behavior consistent with mental health issues,” the statement read. “The allegations are extremely troubling and the organization is currently gathering additional information. The investigation is ongoing and any potential next steps including disciplinary action or medical attention will be determined upon the conclusion. Furthermore, UFC has informed Rivera’s management that he will not be offered a bout at this time.”

Rivera last fight was a split decision loss to Andre Ewell September 19th on the UFC fight night Covington v Woodley card.
