Rose Namajunas has some bad news for the former strawweight champion

The newly crowned strawweight champion Rose Namajunas made history on UFC 261 when she knocked out former champion Zhang Weili in the first round. Namajunas is now the first-ever two-time champion in the history of the UFC.

“I love Joanna Jedrzejczyk, but she gonna be mad,’ said the current champion after her victory at UFC 261.

Prior to UFC 261, Jedrzejczyk announced that she wants to come back and get her belt. She mentioned that she wants the winner of Namajunas vs. Zhang. There was a high chance for her to get that wish if Zhang could have retained her belt. But with Namajunas as the current champion, it is hard for her to get the title shot because Namajunas had defeated her twice.

After UFC 261, Namajunas told her fiancee Pat Barry that Jedrzejczyk wont be happy to see the result of Namajunas vs. Zhang (via UFC).

“You made history as a two-time strawweight champ. No one’s done it yet,” Barry said.

“OK, I love Joanna, but she gonna be mad,” Namajunas said.

“She’s going to be pissed. She was just saying, ‘Give me the whoever, I want the winner of both of them,’ and you won, and she was like, ‘Doh,’” Barry said.

The UFC can still book the trilogy fight between Rose Namajunas, but with Carla Esparza vs Yan Xiaonan scheduled, there is a high chance that the winner of that fight could be next in line.
