Jiri Prochazka is eager to return to the Octagon as soon as possible, saying, “I’m ready to jump in.”

Prochazka began his UFC career with back-to-back knockout victories over Dominick Reyes and Volkan Oezdemir. So far in the UFC, the Czech Republic native has looked incredible, and it’s feasible that he’ll compete for the title in his next bout. Instead of waiting for a championship opportunity, it appears that Prochazka wants to get back into the cage as soon as possible to continue to build his UFC career.

Prochazka said in May that he was in talks with the UFC to be the backup fighter in the UFC 266 main event between Jan Blachowicz, the UFC light heavyweight champion, and No. 1 contender Glover Teixeira. It’s likely, however, that instead of waiting for the championship shot, he’ll want to get back into the cage and fight. That’s why returning to the Octagon and fighting someone like Aleksandar Rakic would be a better option.

“In negotiations with the UFC about (being the backup), if somebody from the fight will be out. We communicate with UFC about this. We will see. I want to take that and I want to be that guy who will wait for that chance,” Prochazka said at the time.
