Interview with Cage Warriors Scott “Denkharft” Pedersen ahead of CW127

Scott “Denkharft” Pedersen 1-1-0 is a professional Mixed Martial Artist, currently competing in the Featherweight Division. A professional competitor since 2019, he has competed for Cage Warriors in the first two matches of his professional career.

I was lucky enough to grab a quick chat with Scott, to speak about his upcoming bout at CW 127.

I’d like to start this off by thanking you for taking the time to speak with me today. How goes training in the build-up to your return to the cage, as one of the main bouts at CW 127?

“Training has been going well. I had a week off after my last fight then got straight back to it.”

Last we saw Scott, he was on the action-packed CW 125 card, back in June, when he took on gifted freestyle kickboxer Marcus Lewis 0-1-0. Coming off a previous loss to Matthew Elliott at CW 120, Scott was determined to achieve his First W for the London based organisation. Well, what a show of determination we got, Elliotts efforts were not enough to stop the grappling powerhouses aspirations. Completely dominating the match, right from refs call for the action to begin. Finishing the bout 2:16 minutes of the very first round via Rear-naked choke.

CW127 has grown a nickname in its build-up to the organisation’s return to York Hall, “The Welsh Takeover.” With three of your fellow countrymen and yourself taking centre stage in the fifth Trilogy for the London based organisation. How does it feel to be able to represent your country in one of the biggest stages of them all?

“I love the fact that all the Welsh boys are on one card. It gives us a chance to show how skilled Welsh MMA fighters are.”

Scott joins his fellow countrymen in the highly anticipated second instalment of The Trilogy, coming to York Hall and UFC fight pass later this month on September 30th. Oban Elliot 3-1-0, Rory Evans 4-3-0 and Jack Tucker 9-3-0 will make up an elite fight card to warrant the nickname of Cage Warriors, in the first instalment of three shows spanning into October.

On September 30th, fight fans in attendance will witness you take on Manny Akpan 3-1-0, a seasoned fighter for Cage Warriors. A chance to make a mark on the Featherweight Division and establish yourself in the respected division. Have you studied Manny in the build-up to your main event war? What do you make of Manny’s technique?

“Manny is a skilled and dangerous fighter, but I’m confident in my skill sets across the board to get the job done. I haven’t studied much about him, I just like to focus on what I’m gonna do.”

With Akpan holding a 3-1-0 record, this could be one of Scott’s biggest challenges yet, he will look to impress and build himself up the Featherweight ranks come September 30th.

You are known to serve under two weight divisions, Featherweight and Lightweight. After your bout at CW 127, have you considered following the path of Featherweight or trying your luck in the Lightweight Division?

“Nah, I think I’ll be staying at Featherweight those Lightweight lads are big lol”

Being ranked in two weight classes spanning over his amateur career (Featherweight/Lightweight,) the Welshman seems to have found his preferred weight choice for his ongoing career in Mixed Martial Arts.

Last but not least Do you have a message for the fans that will be in attendance and anybody you’d like to shout out to?

“Shoutout to my Coaches and teammates at SMMA. I can’t wait to perform in front of the fans it’s going to be buzzing”

Make sure to tune in to what is likely to be one of the best shows of the year, you could be witnessing a new contender for the Featherweight strap in Scott “Denkharft” Pedersen.
