Sam ‘The Mighty Mole’ Kelly speaks about his recent win at Celtic Gladiator 30 and his next fight at UKFC 16

Sam Kelly 3-0-0 is an English professional Mixed Martial Artist currently competing in the Bantamweight division, representing Rio Grappling Club, England. An amateur competitor since 2017 and professional since June 2021. He has competed for ICE FC, Celtic Gladiator, MMA Uncaged FC and UKFC.

I’d like to start things off by thanking you for taking the time to speak to me today and to also congratulate you on your recent victory at Celtic Gladiator 30.

Your bout with Ricardo Morais 4-10-0 was definitely the fight of the night for me. Taking on a more experienced fighter in Morais, in most minds, the odds were stacked against you, but not only did you prove all the doubters wrong, but you also destroyed your opponent in 16 seconds flat via TKO ground and pound. That night in Blackburn must have been a very proud moment taking yourself to 3-0-0 in your professional career?

“Yes, I’m still very happy with my performance. It couldn’t have gone much better really and sends me into the next bout on a real high and was nice to showcase parts of my ever-evolving skill set.”

Just 4 weeks after your astonishing victory, we see you take centre stage again at UKFC 16, on 9 October, when you take on Diare Toman 1-1-0. Have you had much time to study Toman?

“I haven’t watched him at all just like I didn’t with Ricardo and don’t intend to. I know I’m in good hands with Jamie Hay and Ian Butlin, so I let the coaches do their job. I make sure I turn up fit and ready and we do the business as a team.”

A win in Preston would take your record to 4-0-0, with these sorts of numbers you’re bound to catch the eye of some other organisations. Given the choice where would you like to fight next?

“I’m open to seeing wherever it may take me, maybe a title shot or maybe a fight on Cage Warriors or something like that, but I’m just going to keep working hard and see where this crazy journey takes me, with a big smile on my face in the process.”

“UKFC and Celtic Gladiator, have both played host to the current Cage Warriors roster over the years, Aaron Aby 11-4-1 and Kier Harvie 4-1-0 are Just a couple who have made the climb to the iconic York Hall. Kelly is on a three-fight win streak, taking it to 4-0-0 could turn the gaze of the London based organisation and what an addition to the roster it would be.”

Last but not least, do you have a message for the fans that will be in attendance come October 9th and anybody you’d like to give a shout out to?

“My fans are amazing and can really give me that extra 1% in there sometimes with the energy they put into the room! Can’t thank them all enough.”

“Also I would like to thank my sponsors M24 CBD, JPR Sports Therapy and Hench Supplements for sticking with me and looking after me all the way.”

The Bantamweight Division has always been a fan favourite within the world of MMA and it is only getting better as the years go on, keep an eye out for Kelly, we could be witnessing the ascension of a future champion in the making.
