In a change to the BAMMA 23 lineup, Shaj ‘Superman’ Haque steps in to face Rany Saadeh for the Featherweight Title, with Chris ’Nightmare’ Miah having to withdraw due to injury. Other bouts that have been added to the BAMMA 23 prelims are as follows:

Francisco ‘Croata’ Albano Barrio vs Daniel Crawford (Featherweight)
Jamie Powell Vs. Cheya Saleem (Flyweight)

Rany Saadeh (c) Vs. Shaj ‘Superman’ Haque (BAMMA Flyweight Title)
Shaj ‘Superman’ Haque (7-1) steps in against Rany Saadeh following the withdrawal due to injury of Chris ‘Nightmare’ Miah. Haque most recently defeated the highly rated and experienced Ronnie Mann in May at Bantamweight.
Fighting out of South Shields from the Fighting Fit Martial Arts centre, Haque has signed a multi-fight contract and makes his BAMMA debut in the title fight against Saadeh. Currently With wins over Mann, Damien Rooney, Martin McDonough & Kris Edwards, coupled with an undefeated career in Boxing & K-1, Haque comes into this bout with confidence running at an all time high.
Mike Grundy Vs. Mick ‘Basher’ Brennan (Featherweight)
Commonwealth Games medalist Mike Grundy (4-1) will make his sixth appearance under the BAMMA banner. The ‘Wigan Wrestling Machine’ continues his journey to the top of the BAMMA Featherweight division and will be looking to add Brennan to his tally of victories at BAMMA 23.
Mick ‘Basher’ Brennan (4-6) from Sully’s Gym, Kilkenny Ireland makes his first appearance at a BAMMA event when he steps in against Grundy. Former training partner of ‘Magic’ Myles Price, the all round MMA fighter has already competed against the likes of BAMMA 22’s Sean Tobin and Stephen Coll. With a few of his wins coming via way of Rear Naked Choke, Grundy may not be have it all his own way if the fight goes to the ground.
Daniel Crawford Vs. Francisco ‘Croata’ Albano Barrio (Featherweight)
Daniel Crawford (5-0) from Croydon, London fights out of “New Wave Academy”. Currently undefeated, Crawford’s last victory came in February of 2015 over Theo Michailidis. Also holding a victory over BAMMA’s Ant ‘Submission Magician’ Phillips, Crawford will be looking to extend his unbeaten run in his BAMMA debut against Barrio. Crawford comes highly rated amongst the UK’s MMA fanbase and his long awaited BAMMA debut will be watched with much interest.
Argentinian born Francisco ‘Croata’ Albano Barrio (5-1) hails from Croatia, and is the latest addition to the ever growing team of SBG Ireland and coach John Kavanagh. The hugely popular Barrio is somewhat of a star in Croatia, where he is regularly featured in magazine’s as one of the ‘most popular fighters in Croatia’. Francisco comes from an elite Greco Roman Wrestling background, and has over 100 wins on his record.
Jamie Powell Vs. Cheya Saleem (Flyweight)
Opening the prelims at BAMMA 21, Jamie Powell (2-0) made his pro debut at the Barclaycard Arena – securing the win via rear naked choke in 2:32 of an explosive bout against Arnold Dos Santos. Powell holds an amateur career of 8-2, including competing at the inaugural IMMAF World Amateur Championships in Las Vegas as part of Team GB, under head coach Luke ‘Bigslow’ Barnatt. Powell trains out of Avaddon MMA in Cambridgeshire.
Cheya Salem (0-0) was originally slated to face Powell at BAMMA 21 until an injury forced him out of the event. He is now set to make his pro debut at the Barclaycard Arena, once more against Jamie Powell. With a amateur record of 4-0 and coming off a victory over Rob Masters, the Fearless MMA Flyweight will be looking to keep his unbeaten streak going on the biggest platform in Europe.
