The UFC announced on Saturday night during the UFC Fight Night in Melbourne that Conor McGregor voluntarily gave up his 145 pound featherweight belt. McGregor is still the undisputed Lightweight champion.
According to some reports he never agreed to the decision. However, the UFC has the right to strip the belt from McGregor.
Jose Aldo, who won the interim title at UFC 200 in July, by beating Frankie Edgar, will now take McGregor’s belt and be the featherweight champion.
Anthony Pettis and Max Holloway will now battle for the interim featherweight title in the main event of UFC 206, which takes place on December 10th in Toronto, Canada.
