Julio Arce may not be a name you are too familiar with just now but a few more displays like he had on his debut in the UFC and he will be a name on everyone’s lips.

Arce made his debut on Saturday in Boston at UFC 220, when he stepped in on two weeks notice to take on fellow Dana White Contenders Series fighter Dan Ige.

Arce controlled the fight from the start, eliminating any takedowns from the bjj black belt Ige and putting in a masterful striking display that earned praise from commentators Joe Rogan and Dominick Cruz.

The win moved the New Yorker to 14-2 and currently enjoying a six fight win streak.

Arce gave his thoughts to MMA UK on what it meant to make his debut. “When I made my debut it was an amazing feeling because its a dream come true. Going from a pudgy overweight fat kid who did nothing but eat and play video games and do nothing to fighting in the UFC, it’s unreal.”

He was happy with his performance but ever the professional he felt there were things to work on, “I felt great with my performance of course there are things to make better but I’m just super excited about how it all went and thanks to my family, my girlfriend Aja, Nutrabio, the best team Tiger Schulmann’s MA, manager Dave Fish, TSMA students, everyone who has been through this journey with me. Love them all. I got to spend time with them after.”

Any thoughts on who he wants next? Arce said, “I don’t know who I’m fighting next or who I want to fight all I know is that I can’t wait until the next one.”

If you missed Julio’s fight on Saturday, try and watch it to see a great UFC debut and possible future star.
