Ross Houston says it makes “perfect sense” for him to go up against Craig White for the vacant Cage Warriors welterweight title.
Undefeated Houston, from Inverness said “I never planned on fighting with Cage Warriors to make up the numbers. I had my eyes on the belt from day 1 so this fight makes perfect sense. ” and added, “I see the fight going the same as my past 6 fights. White is a new challenge but as usual, me and my team will be ready to crush anyone put in front of us, Craig White being no exception.”
In his last outing, Houston defeated Aaron Khalid by unanimous decision at Cage Warriors 91 in The Newport Centre in Wales, taking his record to 6-0.
At Cage Warriors 92: Super Saturday, White beat Alex Montagnani via triangle choke in the second round and he was told by Cage Warriors president that his next fight would for the vacant welterweight title in his next fight.
White, in his post-fight interview with Lewis Smith of MMA UK at Cage Warriors 92 in London, said: “Ross Houston is making waves but personally, I feel he needs to fight someone else other than Aaron Khalid.”
The Cage Warriors welterweight belt was vacated by Karl Amoussou, when he left Cage Warriors and signed with Brave Combat Federation in Bahrain.
With both fighters on a four-fight win-streak, the fight definitely makes sense and is a match-up what a lot of fans would like to see happen.
