Glaswegian super lightweight Craig MacIntyre took his record to 9-0 on Saturday when he beat Innocent Anyonwu at MTK Evolution in Paisley.

MacIntyre is looking to start competing for titles later this year.

We caught up with MacIntyre to find out his thoughts on the fight, what’s next and about his recent move to MTK managing him.

You defeated Innocent Anyonwu on Saturday in Paisley, were you happy with how the fight went and your performance?

Happy with how the fight went, I won the fight comfortably winning every round. I was happy with how I boxed I was never under pressure and landed nice shots but to be honest I thought I should have got him out of there after hurting him a lot of times.

That was your first fight with management company MTK. Are you excited to be part of MTK, had a move to them been on the cards for a while?

Delighted to be part of MTK, very well run and always do the best they can for their boxers, not really it all happened quite quickly and I think the timing couldn’t have been any better. My old manager Willie Limond was going to co-manage but decided he wanted to focus on his own career and stopped managing fighters all together. We do still speak and he is there as a friend who’s been there and done it if I need any advice.

When are we likely to see you back in the ring?

16th of June, if not before then.

How long does a training camp take for you or are you always prepared to step in at short notice?

Right now I’m prepared to step in. After a fight, a short rest of maybe a week, refresh my mind then back training but if I hadn’t been in the gym anything from a minimum of 8weeks – 12 weeks.

What do you hope to achieve short term and long term in the sport?

Short term, hopefully, one or even two titles this year. Long-term has always been to be World Champion.

How did you become involved in boxing?

Asked my dad to take me to a boxing gym one day couldn’t tell you why I wanted to go, I just got it in my head and he eventually did and I’ve been in the gym ever since.

Are you full-time boxing or do you still work?

I’m full-time thanks to the help of my sponsors.
