On May 12, BAMMA will once again grace the Irish faithful with BAMMA 35. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will meet a stone-cold assassin looking to pass the next gauntlet of his MMA journey with flying colours. A professional since August 2017 and representing The Dungeon, Justin Burlinson owns an unbeaten 3-0 record consisting of two submissions and one knockout. All three of Burlinson’s professional victories have resulted in a finish with two of those coming under the BAMMA banner.

In his MMA debut at Olympus Fighting Championships 1, he submitted Ole Mangor in the third round via guillotine choke. Burlinson also tapped out Josh Plant via rear naked choke in the first round in his BAMMA debut at BAMMA 33. In his second appearance with BAMMA, he defeated Tommy King via TKO in the first round at BAMMA 34 to extend his unbeaten streak to three to begin his professional career. For his next outing with BAMMA at BAMMA 35 on May 12 Burlinson will look to make it four in a row when he takes on Konrad Iwonowski in a welterweight affair. Good luck Justin!

Interview with Justin done by Myles Painter of MMA UK –

You are scheduled to face Konrad Iwonowski at BAMMA 35 on May 12, how do you see this fight playing out and what do you know about your opponent?

Yeah, I am very excited for this fight Konrad is very tough and experienced I see there being a lot of grappling exchanges and a lot of fighting in the clinch.

How did you become involved with MMA?

I became involved in MMA through my Mam and Dad because they didn’t want me to be on the street getting into trouble. So I was always pushed towards doing some sort of sport which was hard because I was never really good at sports, but when I started MMA I just took a liking to it straight away.

With your last two BAMMA outings ending in a first-round finish, what lessons are you looking to apply in this fight?

With my last couple of fights, I really feel like I’ve matured mentally and been able to get in the right frame of mind going into the fight.

What is your favourite MMA fight of all time?

My favourite fight of all time has to be Jones vs Gustafsson.

When you are not training, what do you like to do in your down time?

When I am not training, I like to go to the local Costa Coffee as I am right now.
