Brian Hooi: Eldar is among those that no one dares to call out

Brian Hooi will be fighting in the main event at Brave 12: KHK Legacy facing Eldar Eldarov.

Eldarov had a nine-fight win record in his ten appearances losing only once to his childhood friend Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Nurmagomedov himself calls Eldar his hero. Set for one of the biggest fights in his career, Hooi is also making a return to Brave Combat Federation after almost a year.

Previously he had fought in Brave 5: Go For Glory in Mumbai, India where he faced a disappointing loss against Erick Carlos Silva in a fight which ended in a split decision.

Hooi bounced back and revived his career and in his last appearance, Hooi defeated Islam Khapilaev from Russia at the German MMA Championship 13 by TKO. The bout against Eldarov marks the 22nd fight for the 23-year-old Hooi from the Netherlands.

What are your thoughts going to head the main event in a destination you had never fought before?

I think it’s an awesome opportunity that I get to fight in the main event. Given my age, there will be very few fighters who can bring the level of experience and fight record. Indonesia is a nation passionate about martial arts and it will be a great opportunity to fight in Indonesia.

What are your thoughts about facing Eldarov? Any messages for your opponent?

In my career, I want to fight the best fighters. Eldar is among those that no one dares to call out for a fight. I got no message for my opponent. I will deliver my message to him in the cage on fight night.

Do you think your fight will be one of the most interesting on the card? Why?

It will be interesting to see the Netherlands facing off against Dagestan. And this will be a very good fight for fans of martial arts to watch out for. Both of us are returning to Brave Combat Federation after a break. The fight will showcase the level of improvement in our skills and a level above the rest of the roaster.

What are your thoughts about fighting in Indonesia?

I think its great that I get to headline the Indonesian fight card. The nation is a hub of culture and sports in the region. And in the first-ever visit by the promotion to the region it is a huge honour for me to get such an opportunity.
