Gunnar Nelson is out of his co-main event fight at UFC Liverpool against Neil Magny with an injury according to sources close to the situation.
The MMATakeover claims the SBG Ireland fight has injured his knee and will require surgery to solve the problem which will sideline him for a number of months.
They also reveal that Magny is yet to receive an official replacement with the fight scheduled for the 27th of May.
Nelson hasn’t fought since being knocked out by Santiago Ponzinibbio last July and the Icelandic native will be crushed as he looked to climb the welterweight rankings.
It is believed the UFC are keen to keep Magny on the card so expect a replacement to be scheduled in the near future but the majority of 170lbs is already booked to fight.
Jorge Masvidal is without a fight but indicated UFC Liverpool did not fit his time frame, hence why he wasn’t interested in the Darren Till main event. Alex Oliveira looks like the favourite to take the fight but he recently fought when taking a short-notice bout at UFC Glendale against Carlos Condit.
