Jack Grant aiming for top of division after win at Cage Warriors 93

Jack Grant fought on Cage Warriors 93 in Gothenburg, Sweden last weekend.

Grant put on a masterful performance securing a unanimous decision win over Mehdi Dakaev.

The win moved Grant to 2-0 in Cage Warriors and he’s aiming for a title shot.

We caught up with Grant who gave us his thoughts on his performance against Dakaev, fighting overseas and what’s next.

Grant explains he didn’t know what to expect when he faced Dakaev, “I didn’t really know what to expect from Mehdi Dakaev, I felt confident I’d win, I fought off instinct and had better fight I.Q in all positions.”

Grant earned praise for his performance from the commentators on TV and looked at ease in the cage. Although he was happy with the win, Grant felt he had more to give.

Grant said, “I have mixed emotions about my performance, it was a valuable experience and so much for me to learn from, but I wouldn’t say I’m overly happy now the fights settled, of course, I’m very happy with the win but I’d be much happier if I’d have finished him.”

This was the first time Grant has fought on mainland Europe, something he enjoyed experiencing.

I’ve fought in Ireland in the past and now Sweden, so it was still a relatively new experience for me, I really enjoyed the experience. Gothenburg is a beautiful place.”

Having signed a multi-fight deal with Cage Warriors and his immediate future sorted, Grant is aiming for the top of the division. He is also happy to travel to achieve his goals.

I have signed a multi-fight deal with Cage Warriors. I want to fight the names in the division; Soren Bak or Paddy Pimblett and hopefully for the belt. I have no dates to fight yet, I wanted in on that Belgium show. I want that Cage Warriors belt and hopefully have the opportunity to represent UK MMA overseas. Time will tell, I don’t shy away from hard work I’m learning every day.”

More performances like the ones Jack Grant put on in Sweden then it won’t be long until we see him at the top of the division.
