The North East is set for an explosive night of MMA action as MTK Newcastle continues to make its mark on the sport.

Topping ‘The Rising’ bill on 17th November at Houghton-le-Spring’s Rainton Meadows Arena is the popular Tommy ‘Roly Poly Kid’ Quinn who battles Poland’s Konrad Iwanowski for the MTK European Middleweight Professional title.

Elsewhere on the jam-packed card, hotly-tipped featherweight prospect Joe Calboutin is in actionwhile light heavyweight Brad Tarren faces off against Yu-Joe Lewis Lai.

‘The Rising’ represents newly-formed MTK Newcastle’s second MMA fight night, following on from the successful showing in Tynemouth in July.

Owner of MTK Newcastle, Gary Forrest, believes fans are set for a night they won’t forget. “Fans attending The Rising can expect an evening of thrilling bouts from start to finish,” said Forrest. “This will be more than just your average event and we promise edge-of-your-seat action throughout the card.”The brand’s global reputation is set to play a massive part in bringing a regular stream of fantastic fight nights to the region, both in boxing and MMA.

Forrest added: “The Tynemouth show was a well-executed show and we’re moving on to a bigger venue, which highlights what we plan to do in the future. We hope to host more events of a bigger magnitude to entertain the fans of MMA and to provide an opportunity for those who haven’t yet experienced events like this in the North East to have a taste of what the sport is all about.”
