On March 9, Cage Warriors will once again grace Danish soil with Cage Warriors 103. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will meet a grappling specialist looking to feast on home cooking. A professional since September 2013 and representing Arte Suave, Mads Burnell holds a 10-3 record in 13 career bouts as a professional comprised of six submissions and four decisions. Prior to making his debut appearance with Cage Warriors in 2018, Burnell competed with numerous promotions and was a three-time veteran of the UFC. He is currently 1-0 under the Cage Warriors banner.

In his MMA debut at EMMA 6 The Real Deal, he submitted Aleksander Sredanovic in the first round via anaconda choke. Burnell also tapped out Ali Selcuk Ayin via brabo choke in round one. He defeated his next three opponents that included victories over Hyram Rodriguez and Nasir Aoubi. At Ice FC 12, Burnell defeated Emerik Youmbi via unanimous decision. In the co-main event of MMA Galla, he submitted Anthony Riggio via Japanese necktie in the first round. Burnell also tapped out Fernando Duarte via Japanese necktie in round one in the main event of SOMMA 2. In his second appearance with the UFC at UFN 124, he defeated Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series season one alumni Mike Santiago via unanimous decision to earn his sole victory while he was with the UFC.

In his debut outing with Cage Warriors at Cage Warriors 99 in Colchester, Burnell faced Polish knockout artist Lukasz Rajewski and tapped him out via rear naked choke in the first round to secure his first win under the Cage Warriors banner. The victory also earned him his sixth submission win as a professional in the process. At Cage Warriors 103 on March 9, Burnell will look for his second victory following his release from the UFC when he faces off with Ahmed Vila in a featherweight battle. Good luck Mads!
