The Viper’s Grip featuring UFC fighter Gerald Meerschaert

The Middleweight ranks are a place where experience is often the best teacher. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will meet a veteran looking to use his snakelike savvy with deadly effect at UFC On ESPN 2 on March 30. A professional since March 2007 and representing Roufusport, Gerald Meerschaert owns a 28-10 record in 38 career bouts as a professional comprised of 20 submissions, six knockouts and two decisions. He has achieved Performance of the Night twice in his tenure with the UFC.

At Freestyle Combat Challenge 27, he defeated Shane Krutchen via TKO in the second round. Meerschaert submitted his next two opponents in Kenneth Allen and Will Pace. Then at FCC 33, he defeated Caleb Krull via unanimous decision. Meerschaert tapped out his next three opponents that included wins over Alex Carter and Mike Vaughn. At GCF Fair Warning he submitted Jacob Kuester via neck crank in the first round. Meerschaert also tapped out Morrison Lamb via guillotine choke in round one. He defeated his next five opponents that included victories over Ron Faircloth and Dallas O’ Malley.  At Rouge Warrior Championships 3, Meerschaert submitted Eddie Larrea in the first round via guillotine choke. He defeated Jay Ellis via TKO in round one. Meerschaert defeated his next three foes that included wins over Nathan Gunn and George Lockhart. He tapped out Matt Lagou via arm triangle choke in the first round at KOTC Magnum Force. Meerschaert defeated his next three that included victories over Sidney Wheeler and Lucas Rota. In the headliner of RFA 45, he submitted Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series season one alumni Chase Waldon in round one via arm triangle choke.

In his debut outing with the UFC at UFN 102, Meerschaert tapped out Joe Gigliotti via anaconda choke in the first round. He tapped out Ryan Janes in round one via armbar in his second appearance with the UFC at UFN 105. At The Ultimate Fighter season 26 finale, Meerschaert defeated The Ultimate Fighter season 23 alumni Eric Spicely via TKO in the second round to earn his second Performance of the Night bonus. He submitted Poland’s Oskar Piechota via rear naked choke in round two at The Ultimate Fighter season 27 finale to secure his 20th submission victory as a professional.
