With numerous top talents in Europe being on the Cage Warriors roster, it is clear cut as to why many consider them the top dog in European MMA. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will be introduced to a Belfast diamond whose sharpened skillset has proven tough for the lightweight division to crack. A professional since September 2015 and representing Next Generation Northern Ireland under the steady hand of head coach Rodney Moore, Rhys McKee owns a 9-2-1 record in 11 career bouts as a professional comprised of six knockouts, three submissions and a draw. Prior to making his debut appearance with Cage Warriors in 2018, McKee competed with BAMMA. He has finished all nine of his professional victories and is currently 2-0 under the Cage Warriors banner.

In his MMA debut at BAMMA 22, he submitted John Redmond in the first round. McKee also defeated his next two opponents in Shawn Luther and Alex Masuku. Then at BAMMA 26, he defeated Tommy McCafferty via TKO in the first round. At BAMMA 27 McKee defeated Jai Herbert via knockout in round one. He tapped out France’s Kams Ekpo in the second round via triangle choke at BAMMA 33. For his final outing with BAMMA at BAMMA 34 McKee faced Tim Barnett and defeated him via TKO in the first round.

In his debut appearance with Cage Warriors at Cage Warriors 100 in Cardiff, he defeated Jefferson George via TKO in the first round. The win also earned McKee the sixth submission victory of his professional career. For his second outing with Cage Warriors at Cage Warriors 102 in London, he faced Perry Goodwin and submitted him in the third round to earn back to back victories with Cage Warriors. McKee also earned his third submission win as a professional in the process. On the ground or standing up, McKee has shown a steely resolve where the lights shine the brightest!
