The Lion and the Shamrock featuring Cage Warriors fighters Anthony O’Connor and Ian Garry

2019 in Cage Warriors lore has already delivered some pulse-pounding moments of excitement for European MMA fans from the steady rise of submission specialist and middleweight golden boy James Webb to the utter terror of bantamweight golden boy Jack Shore. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will be introduced to two of Cage Warriors bright blasters looking to sit atop the throne for the promotion in the coming years.

Anthony O’Connor

A professional since November 2016 and representing Next Generation Liverpool under head coach Paul Rimmer along with Adam Ventre, UFC fighter and former Cage Warriors champion Chris Fishgold and numerous other names of note, Anthony O’ Connor holds a 4-3 record in seven career bouts as a professional comprised of two knockouts, one submission and one decision. O’ Connor has competed with Cage Warriors, Shinobi FC and UK Fighting Championships. He has managed to secure a finish in three of his four victories as a professional. In his MMA debut at Shinobi FC 9, he defeated Wes O’ Neil in the first round. Then at Cage Warriors Academy Northwest 1 O’ Connor submitted Craig Bale in the first round via rear naked choke. For the co-main event of UK Fighting Championships 6, he defeated Antonio Sheldon in round one. The win also earned O’ Connor the second knockout victory of his professional career. In his second outing with Cage Warriors at Cage Warriors 101 in Liverpool, he defeated Steven Hooper via unanimous decision to earn his first victory under the Cage Warriors banner. Well instructed in all aspects of the game, O’ Connor may become a dark horse who lurks in the shadows waiting for the right moment to strike!

Ian Garry

A professional since February 2019 and representing Team KF Swords alongside current Cage Warriors middleweight champion James Webb under the watchful eye of Chris Fields, Ian Garry holds a 1-0 record with his lone professional victory coming via decision. In his MMA debut at Cage Warriors 101, he faced James Sheehan and defeated him via unanimous decision to earn his first decision win as a professional. This young shamrock is just beginning to find his shine!
