Legacy Fighting Alliance has always been a leading proponent in global growth in expansion. A professional since July 2015 and representing Fortis MMA, JP Buys owns a 8-2 record in 10 professional contests comprised of four submissions, three knockouts a DQ, Prior to making his promotional debut with Legacy Fighting Alliance in 2019, Buys competed with EFC and Brave Combat Federation and appeared on week seven during season one of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series in 2017. He has gone on to finish seven of his eight professional victories and is currently 1-0 under the banner of Legacy Fighting Alliance.

In his MMA debut at EFC 41, he submitted Josemar Octavio via rear-naked choke in the first round. Buys also tapped out Roevan De Beer in round one via rear-naked choke at EFC 47. Then at EFC 49, he faced Abdul Hassan and went on to defeat him via TKO in the second round.  Buys submitted Baldwin Mdlalalose via triangle choke in the first round at EFC 54. He defeated his next two opponents in Gazmat Magomedov at Brave Combat Federation 17 and Philippe Rouch at EFC 69 respectively. For his final outing with EFC at EFC 74 Buys faced Luthando Biko and defeated him via TKO in the fourth round.

In his debut appearance with Legacy Fighting Alliance at LFA 78, he defeated Cristan Rodriguez via TKO in the first round to earn the third knockout victory of his professional career along with his first LFA win.
