The dreaded UFC jitters affect talents in various degrees of nerves but sometimes all they need is gentle pushes and guidance on the correct path to find a momentous rhythm. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will be introduced to a bantamweight buzzsaw looking to cut through the division with the precision of a razor blade with a sharpened and keen edge from the Toyota Center in Houston Texas at UFC 247 on February 8. A professional since May 2017 and representing The MMA Lab, Mario Bautista owns a 7-1 record in eight professional contests comprised of three submissions, two knockouts and two decisions. Prior to making his promotional debut with the UFC in 2019, Bautista competed with various promotions including Legacy Fighting Alliance and has gone on to earn a finish in five out of his seven professional victories.
In his MMA debut at Iron Boy MMA 6, he faced Jessie Orta and went on to defeat him via TKO in the first round. Bautista submitted his next two opponents in DeMarcus Brown and Devin Chavez. Then in his debut appearance with Legacy Fighting Alliance at LFA 31, he defeated Brazil’s Raphael Montini De Lima via TKO in the second round. Bautista tapped out AJ Robb in round two at LFA 44 to pick up his third submission win as a professional. He defeated Juan Pablo Gonzalez at Combate Americas via unanimous decision.
For his second outing with the UFC at UFC On ESPN 4, Bautista faced South Korea’s Jin Soo Son and went on to defeat him via unanimous decision to earn the second decision victory of his professional career along with his first win in the UFC. At UFC 247 on February 8, he will lock horns with the undefeated Miles Johns in a battle at bantamweight on the UFC Fight Pass portion of the preliminary card. Good luck Mario!
