Across the Pond Profile: Cage Warriors fighter Joe McColgan

Cage Warriors has continued to raise the golden star of accent by moulding the best in all of European MMA into big-league talents. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will be introduced to a bucking Belfast bronco looking to snatch another neck and come home with a king’s bounty at Cage Warriors 113 on March 20 as he works his way up the lightweight ladder. A professional since November 2015 and representing Fight Academy Ireland, Joe McColgan owns a 6-2-1 record in eight professional bouts comprised of four submissions, two decisions and a draw. McColgan has spent the majority of his tenure as a professional with Cage Warriors and has also fought for various originations across Europe including BAMMA. Out of McColgan’s six victories thus far as a professional mixed martial artist he has gone on to secure a finish in four of them.

In his MMA debut at Battlezone Fighting Championships 14, he faced Tom Hogan and submitted him via rear-naked choke in the third round, McColgan also defeated Peter Queally via unanimous decision in his one and only appearance with BAMMA at BAMMA 26. He tapped out Richard Williams in round three in his second outing with Cage Warriors at Cage Warriors 83. Then at Cage Warriors 86, McColgan took on fellow submission specialist Sean Carter and defeated him via split decision to pick up his second decision win as a professional. At Fight Clubbing 24 World Edition he tapped out Aldo Cirillo of Italy in the first round.

For his next outing with Cage Warriors at Cage Warriors 110 in Cork, he faced Robbie Scott and went on to tap him out in the first round via brabo choke. The win also earned McColgan the fourth submission victory of his professional career. At Cage Warriors 113 on March 20 he will face Rafael Macedo in a battle at Lightweight. Good luck Joe!
