Across the Pond Profile: Cage Warriors fighter Paul Hughes

An Irish resurgence is sweeping across Cage Warriors with the growing emergence of stars like Ian Garry. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will meet a bright green dragon whose flames are ripping through the promotion with his human highlight reel of changing attacks. A professional mixed martial artist since February 2017 and representing Fight Academy Ireland, Paul Hughes holds an undefeated 5-0 professional record comprised of three knockouts and two submissions. Hughes is currently 2-0 under the banner of Cage Warriors and has also fought for several other European promotions including BAMMA. He has finished all five of his victories in his tenure as a pro-MMA fighter so far and has yet to even see the judges in his career. Most of Hughes’s wins as a pro thus far have come inside the first two rounds

In his MMA debut at BAMMA 28, he defeated Adam Gustab via TKO in the first round. Hughes also defeated Stephen O’ Neil via TKO in round one at Cage Conflict 1. Then in his debut fight for Cage Warriors at Cage Warriors Unplugged 2, he faced Matesuz Markowski and submitted him in the first round via rear-naked choke. Hughes tapped out France’s Kafia Seydi at Cage Conflict 2 Hellraiser via rear-naked choke in round number one to pick up his second submission win as a professional.

For outing number two with Cage Warriors at Cage Warriors 112 from the BEC Arena in Manchester, England he faced yet another international opponent in Youri Panada and went on to knock him out in the second round. The win earned Hughes the third knockout victory of his professional career along with win number two in Cage Warriors. A third-degree scorching is a price to pay if an opponent disturbs this dragon’s restful slumber!
