Across the Pond Profile: Bellator MMA fighter Austin Clem

Learning every and all aspects that MMA offers can serve as a key component in a fighter’s overall growth. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will be introduced to a show me tiger whose skill on the ground has opponents calling checkmate. A professional mixed martial artist since October 2018 and representing Fusion Jiu-Jitsu and MMA, Austin Clem holds a 4-1 record in five professional bouts comprised of three submissions and one decision. Clem fought for Walkout FC a regional MMA promotion based in his home state of Missouri prior to debuting with Bellator MMA at Bellator 240 in February 2020. He is currently 1-0 under the banner of Bellator MMA and has finished 75 percent of his victories in his tenure thus far as a pro-MMA fighter. Clem has gone the distance once in his pro career with that win going all three rounds over a period of 15 minutes.  The majority of Clem’s wins during his time as a professional mixed martial artist have come within the first two frames with a single first-round finish and two round two tapouts.

In his MMA debut at Altitude MMA Fights 14, he faced Brandon Gaitor and went on to submit him in the second round. Clem also tapped out Frank Beyers via rear-naked choke in round one at Walkout FC 14 Fully Loaded. Then at Walkout FC 17 Springfield Fight Night, he submitted Kyleb Collins via rear-naked choke in the second round to pick up his third submission win as a professional.

In his promotional debut with Bellator MMA at Bellator 240, Clem defeated Aaron Chalmers via unanimous decision. The victory earned Clem the first decision win of his professional career along with victory number one in Bellator MMA. Getting it on the ground is nothing short of a chess match when this tiger has you by the tail!
