Tony Ferguson, the UFC lightweight contender, released a statement following his unanimous decision defeat to Beneil Dariush at UFC 262.
“El Cucuy” seems to have missed a move in his MMA game at the age of 37. He’s now lost 3 consecutive fights to Dariush, Charles Oliveira, and Justin Gaethje, and he’s dropped every round in each of them.
Ferguson was once one of the best lightweight fighters in the world, but he seems to be on the decline and is no longer the championship-level hero he once was.
Ferguson’s reaction to his UFC 262 defeat to Dariush, which was his third consecutive lopsided loss inside the Octagon, was as follows.
“UFC 262 -CSO- 🇺🇸🏆🇲🇽 # 👣 I Won’t Tap” – Ferguson wrote.
What the UFC does next with Ferguson would be fascinating to watch. It’s likely he’ll fight somebody in the top-10 and try to rebound, or the UFC will pair him with anyone outside the top-15 to see if they can grow a new talent off of him.
