Cage Warriors lightweight champion Agy Sardari will defend his lightweight title against Joe McColgan at next months CW 125 card.
CW 125 will be the final of Cage Warriors‘ next trilogy series on 26th June and is already packed with incredible fights.
Speaking about the lightweight title fight, Cage Warriors president Graham Boylan said: “This one is tough to call.
“Sardari has had two close fights with Jack Grant and Donovan Desmae to win and defend the title, so he is obviously a tough guy to beat.
“Joe McColgan is getting a second chance at the belt and you know he is going to throw everything he has into walking out as the champion.”
Sardari beat Jack Grant for the vacant lightweight title at CW 119 and defended it against Donavn Desmae at CW 121.
“The Wolverine” is currently riding an eight-fight winning streak and says: “I’m the number one lightweight in Europe and I’m taking the belt back to the Netherlands with me.
“Joe is an all-round fighter, has long arms, is confident with his hands and he has a pretty good takedown defence.
“But it won’t matter, I see holes in his game and I will reveal his weaknesses during the fight!”
McColgan has fought a who’s who of Cage Warriors talents, including former lightweight champions Jai Herbert and Mason Jones. He comes into this fight having finished five of his seven wins, four coming via submission.
When asked what it meant to him to be fighting for the Cage Warriors lightweight title, McColgan responded: “The Cage Warriors lightweight title is the most coveted title in Europe, outside of the UFC.
“From the moment I signed with Cage Warriors I have been calling out the best guys and taking the hardest fights, to get my hands on the title.
“Fighting for the Cage Warriors title is an unbelievable opportunity and winning that title would be a dream come true.”
Cage Warriors fans will be able to enjoy all the action of CW 125 live on UFC Fight Pass and via Cage Warriors‘ global broadcasting partners.
