In a recent development Triller fight club has announced that 2 MMA legends will meet in the boxing ring on September 11th, as Anderson Silva (34-11-1) takes on Tito Ortiz (21-12-1) a 195-pound catchweight on the same card as Oscar De La Hoya vs Vitor Belfort.
The former middleweight champion is coming off an impressive performance where he defeated former boxing champion and son of legendary boxer Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in an 8 round fight in June by split decision which seemed generous considering what took place that night. In his bout, the spider looked as if he had turned back the clock as he was quick and relentless with his pace, looking confident as ever with his superior striking. He will be facing a much larger opponent that fought his career at 205 pounds, so it will be interesting to see how Anderson prepares for this fight as he will look to outlast his opponent’s gas tank which is also legendary in itself.
As for the former light-heavyweight champion, Ortiz last fought in 2019 where he submitted Alberto Del Rio by rear-naked choke in the first round. Ortiz is 3-0 since 2017 beating the likes of Chael Sonnen, Chuck Lidell, and Del Rio. Unlike his opponent, Tito has never competed in a professional or amateur boxing match, but according to a recent statement by the Huntington beach bad boy he claims he has been training boxing like never before and looks to showcase his improved skill set while also proving he is much more that just another MMA fighter or wrestler looking to box.
The Triller event is beginning to take shape as the PPV card which will take place in LA, now features now 4 ex-champion (3 MMA, 1 boxing).
