A huge lightweight fight is almost finalized as Michael chandler and Tony Ferguson is rumoured to face each other at UFC 274 which is set to take place in Phoenix Arizona on May 7th.
So, MMA fans please rub your lucky coins together, say a little prayer, or knock on wood, because this is a dream matchup with fireworks of the bloodiest kind ready to happen. It’s rare that 2 of the most electric and best lightweights on earth get to face each other, so we can only hope that no one gets injured and the fight happens as scheduled. While this fight doesn’t necessarily have title implications, one can’t deny that a win over the other puts the victor closer to title contention.
Michael Chandler was last seen in the octagon in November of last year where he and Justin Gaethje delivered not only fight of the night but an all-time classic. Since joining the UFC the Bellator Champ has gone 1-2 TKO’ing Dan Hooker in the 1st with the two losses coming against Charles Oliveira and JG.
As for Tony, he continues to be a fan favourite regardless of the outcome, the former TUF winner and former #1 contender has been on an unfortunate 3 fight losing streak, but that was against Charles Oliveira, JG and Beniel Dariush (almost identical to Chandler). Tony hasn’t fought since May of last year and is looking to get back into the win column after rifling off a 12 fight win streak from 2013-to 2019.
