Fighters on the upward swing know how to turn lemons into lemonade when an opportunity comes knocking at the door regardless of the time of day. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will be introduced to a towering lion of punishment ready to lay down the fierceness as the newest gem of the bunch for Cage Warriors at light heavyweight. A professional mixed martial artist since September 2019 and representing Team Renegade, Matty Byfield holds a 3-1-1 record through the span of four professional bouts comprised of two knockouts, one submission, and a no contest. Byfield fought for several European promotions including Caged Steel prior to making his promotional debut with Cage Warriors at Cage Warriors 135 in April 2022. He has finished all three of his victories during his time in the professional ranks. 100 percent of Byfield’s finishes during his pro career have come within the opening round, with three first-round finishes under his belt with times of 13 seconds, three minutes and 56 seconds, and four minutes and 37 seconds respectively.

In his MMA debut at MTK MMA Probellum, he faced Jake Watkins and went on to defeat him via TKO in the first round. Byfield also defeated Matthew Findlay via TKO in round one at MTK MMA Probellum London to earn his second knockout win as a professional. Then in his one and only appearance with Caged Steel at Caged Steel 26, he submitted Lewis Tams in the first round via arm-triangle choke. The victory earned Byfield the first submission win of his professional career. He also picked up his third straight first-round finish in the process. Despite having limited experience in terms of cage time, Byfield has plenty of pounce combined with power in his arsenal of athleticism!
