Stelios Theocharous – “I think he’s a good fighter and he’s got a bright future ahead of him.”

Stelios Theocharous 3-3-0 is an Cypriot professional Mixed Martial Artist currently competing in the Welterweight Division. A professional competitor since 2018. He has competed for Ultimate Challenge MMA, Celtic Gladiator, MTK MMA, Contenders and Fightstar Championship and is making his debut for Shock N Awe Saturday 23rd in the co main event.

I’d like to start this off by thanking you for taking the time to speak to me today. It’s great to catch up with you again Stelios, I hope training has been going well in the build-up to your scheduled return to the cage at Shock N Awe 32?

“Hey Aaron, it’s good to talk again man! Training for this fight has been great, with ups and downs here and there but all good.”

Your Co-Main card inclusion is set in stone for Saturday, April 23rd at what is set to be an action-packed night of pure unadulterated organised violence at The Guildhall in Portsmouth.

Taking on Kye Stevens, a lightweight bout that has fight of the night written all over it. What do you make of your opponent for your 7th step down your professional journey?

“I’ve watched a couple of Kyes’s fights, not too many to be honest. I think he’s a good fighter and he’s got a bright future ahead of him, definitely the type of fight that could be the fight of the night!”

Your return was delayed by your bout with Hardeep Rai 3-2-0 being unfortunately cancelled back in March at Fightstar Championship 21. Understandably this would be frustrating, due to all the effort taken to prepare. How do you feel to be finally stepping back into the Lion’s Den?

“Well in all honesty it wasn’t nice not fighting on that card but everything happens for a reason. Right now I’m really excited to be stepping back in there, I love to fight man!”

Throughout your career you have fought both Welterweight and Lightweight, each bout has seen you make weight comfortably. Both seem very familiar to you, success has been achieved in both divisions. Is there a preferred one of the two for you?

“The weight division I consider myself to be better at is LW. Although it is a bit more difficult to make weight, I feel my size is best suited for it. Going back to WW can always be a possibility if the right opportunity pops up but LW is the division for me at the moment.”

Successful outings at both Contenders 31 and Fightstar Championship 20 have made you quite the stand-out across the regional circuit.

As previously stated this will be your 7th outing along your MMA Journey, does the thought of adding a title to your list of achievements in the not so distant future, and in which division?

“Yes, it is my 7th and although I and my team & management are taking one fight at a time. There had been talks of titles recently but until this fight is done it’s just talking, the weight division I’d like to get a belt would be at LW!”

Shock N Awe has worked fingers to the bone to make sure fight fans witness a night they will not soon forget for their 32nd card to date. Other than your inclusion on the night are there any matchups in particular that you’re looking forward to witnessing?

“I am looking forward to the main event because both guys have been in the game a while, and both can fight. I can just feel that fight being a barn burner.”

I wish you all the best for Saturday Stelios and I hope you enjoy the bouts in the build-up to your inclusion. Last but not least do you have a message for the fans that will be in attendance and anybody you’d like to give a shout-out to?

“Thank you very much mate, I’d like to give a shout-out to my daughter and all my family and friends both in the UK & back home in Cyprus! I always do the best I can so you guys can be proud of me, this time will be no different. Can’t wait to entertain everyone this Saturday! See you there.”
