This is an apple to oranges comparison. The boxing vs MMA debate doesn’t really make sense except for the promoters and fighters looking to cash in on a freak show, not to mention this debate has been settled since Royce Gracie submitted Art Jimmerson at UFC 1, but since pro MALE boxers seem to lack the courage that so many female boxers have had and face their MMA counterparts in a true fight we will have to settle for a what-if kind of list.
Featherweight: Alexander Volkanovski (24-1) vs Errol Spence Jr (28-0): Both fighters are in the mix of being the most dominant champions of their era and weight class, with a combined 52-1 record both are some of the most accomplished fighters in either sport. Volk recently dominated the Korean Zombie via TKO while Spence TKO’d Ugas.
Prediction: MMA: Volkanovski 3rd round TKO, Boxing: Spence 9th round TKO.
Rose Namajunas (11-4) vs Lourdes Juarez (32-2): For those that may not know, Juarez is one of the best female boxers of her weight class’s era, she is the definition of a Mexican boxer that can turn up the heat whenever she feels like it. A fight against Rose who is such a skilled striker and all-around fighter would make for one of the best 115-pound fights.
Prediction: MMA: Rose 2nd round TKO, Boxing: Juarez via UD.
Valentina Schevchenko (22-3) vs Amanda Serrano (42-1-1): Don’t let Amanda’s relationship with Jake Paul sour you from recognizing a true fighter. Amanda not only is one of the best female boxers ever, but she also has competed in grappling and MMA fights going undefeated in both. While I feel Valentina would run through her in MMA, Amanda is no walk in the park.
Prediction: MMA: Valentina 3rd round submission, Boxing: Amanda by UD.
Juliana Pena (11-4) vs Claressa Shields (12-0): Not many thought Juliana had it in her to take down the GWOAT in Nunes, my guess is that those same people are feeling the same if she ever faced Claressa (me included), Claressa showed promise in her 2 fights vs ok grapplers, but Juliana is an elite wrestler, the same can be said about Juliana and her striking.
Prediction: MMA: Juliana via 2nd round GNP, Boxing: Shields via 5th round TKO
Flyweight: Deiveson Figueiredo (21-1-2) vs Leo Santa Cruz (38-2-1): God of war meets the earthquake, in what could be one of the most fast-paced fights in history. Both men are nearly identical in weight, yet hit like they are 3 weight classes above. Fig is one of the most well rounded martial artists and can drag anyone into a bloody war.
