Across The Pond Profile: Legacy Fighting Alliance fighter John Sweeney

A fighter’s career can come full circle once they return to a promotion that helped plant the first seed. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will be introduced to a gamecock of gore ready to ignite the light in his LFA return at LFA 137 on July 29 as the promotion prepares for their annual summer slam. A professional mixed martial artist since April 2017 and representing Upstate Karate, John Sweeney owns a 10-3 record through 13 professional contests comprised of five knockouts, two submissions, and three decisions. Sweeney has competed for various promotions over the duration of his journey as a pro-MMA fighter so far including Legacy Fighting Alliance. He has finished seven out of his 10 victories during his time in the professional ranks. Sweeney has gone to the scorecards twice over the course of his pro career thus far. He is 2-0 under the LFA banner, with two finishes under his belt for the promotion.

In his MMA debut at LFA 8, he faced Jon Sparks and went on to tap him out in the first round via rear-naked choke. Sweeney also submitted Shelton Sales in round one at LFA 17. Then at NFC 98, he defeated Devante Sewell via TKO in the second round. Sweeney defeated his next three opponents that included wins over Jose Medrano and Dave Morgan.  He defeated Calvin Harbaugh via TKO in round one at Showcase MMA 19. At Xtreme MMA 2, Sweeney knocked out Dre Miley in the first round. He defeated Leandro Morales via unanimous decision in the main event of Combate Global. At Xtreme MMA 4 Black Magic, Sweeney defeated three-time UFC veteran Cole Smith via a split decision. The victory earned Sweeney the third decision win of his professional career.

In the co-main event of LFA 137 on July 29, he will take on Ricardo Dias in an affair at bantamweight. Good luck John!
