In his MMA debut at LFA 8, he faced Jon Sparks and went on to tap him out in the first round via rear-naked choke. Sweeney also submitted Shelton Sales in round one at LFA 17. Then at NFC 98, he defeated Devante Sewell via TKO in the second round.
