Bellator’s invasion of Italy is fast approaching and what a night of pure unadulterated organised violence we have in store. In the build-up to Bellator 287 on October 7th, I caught up with one of the many UK talents on the Card and Featherweight division’s power-House, Andrew Fisher.

Andrew Fisher 19-8-1 is an English Professional Mixed Martial Artist currently competing in the Featherweight division, representing TFT. He has competed for Strike & Submit Championships, the United Kingdom Regionals, 10th Legion Championship Fighting, Supremacy Fight Challenge, Made4TheCage Fighting Championships, BAMMA, Olympian MMA Championships, Absolute Championship Berkut, Arzalet Fighting, Cage Warriors and Bellator MMA.

I’d like to kick things off by thanking you for taking the time to speak to me today Andrew, and also to congratulate you on your inclusion to the Bellator 287 card.

“Thank you, thank you for hitting me up mate.”

I hope training has been going well in the build-up to your scheduled return to the cage?

“Yeah it’d been really good, we’re six weeks out now. I train all the time anyway but I’m really starting to up it more specifically now.”

It has been an incredibly busy year for you, taking the walk to victory at Bellator 281 over Attila Korkmas, cornering your team over many MMA events, and a successful trip to Dana White’s Contender series with Mick Parkin. All of this as well as arranging the Rise and Conquer 11 card. You’ve left quite the imprint on the MMA scene, what does this mean to you?

“I like to be really busy, I don’t like to stop working. I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve done, all you mentioned, I really like doing it all so it doesn’t really feel like hard work. I do all of that as well as having four kids, I’m quite a hands on dad as well. Sometimes that gets the better of me, but the rest of the stuff with work I really enjoy, and I’d do for free If I wasn’t getting paid for it”

As well as helping others to achieve their ultimate goals, you continue to embark on your own career. Barring one no-contest at Bellator 267, you have successfully secured victory stretching back to 2017. Many will agree that you are close to gaining a chance to compete for the Bellator Featherweight Championship, currently held by Patrício Pitbull.

Your next step on your prolific MMA journey brings you to Italy, a chance to potentially stake your claim to this potential feat. What are your thoughts on this?

“I suppose that’s the ultimate goal for everyone to become the best in the division. I’ve got a tough guy in front of me, so all my focus is on him at the moment but my ultimate goal is fighting for Bellator, and winning the Bellator world title.”

You are set to take on Top Notch MMA’s Justin ‘J-Train’ Gonzales. 8th ranked in the Bellator world rankings and highly skilled in the art of winning ways. What are your thoughts on Justin in the build-up to your scheduled meeting on October 29th?

“I think he looks like an athlete, he’s definitely explosive and athletic. He was a division one wrestler as well so it should be good, it’s the kind of fights I want. It’s definitely making me pull my finger out and has given me a buzz to get better and beat him.”

Many UK talents have been added to one of Scott Coker’s Bellator most highly anticipated to date. amongst these warriors representing the UK, it must be a great feeling to have many of your fellow country men accompanying you to Milan?

“It is really good for the growth of the sport in the UK but when I’m fighting, I’m not really bothered about anyone else on the card, I don’t really care to be honest. Afterwards I’ll probably watch them but as of now, I’m just focused on myself.”

As previously stated, Bellator 287 is in high anticipation. Other than your inclusion on the night are there any matchups in particular that you’re looking forward to witnessing?

“I guess I’ve just answered that one but I’ll pick one anyway haha. Saul Rogers vs Tim Wilde, I like both of them. It’s quite an exciting fight.”

I wish you all the best for October Andrew and also for Rise and Conquer 11.

Last but not least do you have a message for the fans that will be in attendance in Milan and anybody you’d like to give a shout-out to?

“I don’t think I have many fans haha, my fiancé likes me, but apart from that I don’t think I have anymore haha.”
