This December has already been a historic month for OKTAGON MMA with arguably the best event in promotional history, OKTAGON 37, and the announcement of the ground-breaking €1 million Tipsport Gamechanger welterweight tournament.
On this week’s episode of OKTAGON HYPE, Bryan Lacey looks back at the show in Ostrava he called ‘the greatest night of fights he has ever called’ and recaps all of the action that included two new champions being crowned. The aforementioned tournament is also discussed and some of the participants/overall structure of the bracket is broken down.
OKTAGON MMA co-owner, Ondřej Novotný, joined Lacey to give an exclusive interview where he talked about his own thoughts on OKTAGON 37, provides an update on light heavyweight champion, Karlos Vémola, after his recent health scare and previews what 2023 has in store from the top European promotion. Significant quotes from the interview and the full episode can be seen below.
Novotný: “I was there [with Vémola] Sunday in hospital. He is better than he was but I have to say that if I had known what I know now, I would have cancelled the fight on Wednesday or Thursday. He was dead. He should be dead. He had some numbers which were far away from normal life. He is ‘The Terminator’, definitely, now it is official that he can go again and again and again. He is getting better but we will see in January when and how he can come back.”
OKTAGON HYPE is a magazine show for international audiences featuring the latest news, exclusive interviews, event recaps, card previews and much more. It also allows MMA fans from all around the world to learn about the backstories of the promotion’s biggest stars (many of which are mainstream, household names in different regions) through different insight segments. Every two weeks, a new episode is released on the OKTAGON MMA UK & Ireland YouTube channel.
