Across The Pond Profile: PFL MMA fighter Greg Velasco

Numerous specialists in the ground game from the eastern coast of the United States have gone on to achieve seismic waves of such magnitude that promotions have no choice but to take notice of them on an even larger scale and bigger stages. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will meet a raider of intensifying gales ready to send heavyweights toppling like trees in PFL MMA. A professional mixed martial artist since May 2021 and representing The Institute and Bayshore Jiu-Jitsu, Greg Velasco owns an undefeated 5-0 record comprised of two submissions, two knockouts, and one decision. Velasco has finished four out of his five victories over the course of his career in the professional ranks and has fought for Cage Fury Fighting Championships. The majority of Velasco’s wins during his time as a professional MMA fighter have been inside of two rounds. He has gone to the scorecards a single time during his pro tenure sweeping them clean across the board in that instance. Velasco has a single first round finish under his belt to go along with three second round finishes during his career as a professional mixed martial artist thus far.

In his professional MMA debut and promotional debut with Cage Fury Fighting Championships at CFFC 97, he faced Halston Williams and defeated him via TKO in round one. Velasco also defeated Jacob Heavlin via TKO in the second round at CFFC 101. Then at CFFC 104, he tapped out Willie Tarpley via rear-naked choke in round two. Velasco submitted Edwin Smart via heel hook in the second round at CFFC 107.

In the main event of CFFC 113, he defeated Kevin Ray Sears via unanimous decision. The victory earned Velasco the first decision win of his professional career. He also extended his unbeaten streak to five in a row to begin his pro career in the process. Velasco is one wielder of the axe that has the fierce maelstrom of battle coursing through his veins of victory!
