Numerous fighters from the northeast have received their time in the limelight thanks to Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series like Chris Curtis in the show’s second season and Billy Goff in season six. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will meet a falcon of freezing air whose submissions have been the dagger to many an opponent’s heart. A professional mixed martial artist since August 2019 and representing NE Cartel, Connor Matthews holds a 6-1 record in seven contests comprised of five submissions and one knockout. Matthews has fought for several organizations over the course of his career as a professional MMA fighter including CES MMA, Combat Zone and Cage Titans. He appeared on week two of the sixth installment of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series in 2022. All six of his victories during his time in the professional ranks have been inside the opening round. Matthews has finished 100 percent of his wins during his pro career thus far with six first round finishes to show for it through seven appearances so far as a professional mixed martial artist.

In his MMA debut at Cage Titans 45, he knocked out Stacey Anderson in round one. Matthews tapped out Rob Fuller in the first round via neck crank at Cage Titans 47. Then at CES MMA 61, he submitted Joshua Maher via rear-naked choke in the first round. He tapped out Jay Ellis in round one via rear-naked choke at Cage Titans 48. Matthews submitted Josh Hardy via rear-naked choke in the first round at CES MMA 66.

In the main event of Combat Zone 79, he tapped out Andrew Cruz in round one via rear-naked choke. The victory earned Matthews the fifth submission win of his professional career. Whenever Matthews takes an opportunity to capitalize on an opponent’s weakness, he will exercise complete control to write the narrative that he desires!
