In his MMA debut at RFC 38 Undisputed, he submitted Daniel Matos via rear-naked choke in the third round. Smith defeated Matthew Ferraiolo via technical knockout in round one at RFC 39 High Stakes. Then at RFC 41 War, he defeated Ty McLeod via TKO in the third round. He tapped out Shawn Fields in round three at Combat Quest 5 who runs the west. Smith defeated Carlos Alexandre de Costa via a split decision at Combat Quest 6 get the strap. He submitted Zulkarnaiyn Kamchybekov in the third round in his promotional debut with Cage Fury Fighting Championships at CFFC 100.
In the main event of CFFC 106, Smith defeated Paris Artis via unanimous decision. The victory earned Smith the second decision win of his professional career.
