UFC 295 “The Golden Goose” BEST BETS

So after having a very successful night in Sao Paulo last weekend, we move to “The Big Apple” and the most famous arena in the world. Madison Square Garden. There is always something about cards in NYC for me that just makes it a little bit more of a special night. Plus my friend, NYC-born and raised Jared Gordon is on the card. He takes on Mark O’Madsen in what is sure to be a barn burner. Jared marks 8 years sober in December, and he literally used to shoot dope in Penn Station, which is directly below the arena. How’s that for a comeback story?!

So no surprise on BET 1 for Saturday’s card.

JARED GORDON V MARK O’MADSENTake Jared Gordon to win @ 1/2, -200.

Now it would be easy to think that this is a heart-over-head pick. But far from it. O’Madsen is a very good Greco-Roman wrestler. Exceptional even. But aside from that he doesn’t have a whole lot. Jared has fantastic volume, great cardio, and solid grappling. Plus Jared does have an uncanny knack of if he gets taken down he bounces back up. Couple that with the fact whilst this fight is on the feet, Jared is light years ahead. I’ll be having a sprinkle on the Gordon win via finish also @ 11/4, +275. But the money line above is a nice safe play. I’ll let you decide which to play. I’m doing both.

Next up is on to the main card.

MATT FREVOLA V BENOIT SAINT-DENISTake Benoit Saint-Denis to win via FINISH @ 4/6, -150.

This has the potential to be FIGHT OF THE NIGHT whilst it lasts. I love Matt Frevola. The guys a genuine great guy who loves and interacts with the fans. He’s also riding a 3 fight-win streak. But Saint-Denis is just a different animal. The guy is a legit SAVAGE. He rides in on a 4 fight-win streak with none of those fights going past the 2nd round. Plus in each fight, he’s just looked better and better, and he isn’t just a threat on the feet. He has a quality ground game and is known to be fond of a submission win. 9 of his 12 wins have come via submission. Don’t let your love of Frevola cloud your judgment. Get on this price.

Last but not least….

JESSICA ANDRADE V MACKENZIE DERNTake Mackenzie Dern via SUBMISSION @ 6/5, +120.

This is probably my favorite play of the night. Andrade is on a 3 fight-losing streak, 2 of which have come by tapping out. Now that isn’t the sort of preparation you want when facing a multiple-time BJJ World Champ in Mackenzie Dern. Yes, Dern is 2-2 in her last 4. But this is all about the match-up, and this is just a terrible one for Andrade. At some point, Andrade will over-swing with the hands, and Dern will take her down. It wouldn’t even shock me if it’s an arm-bar finish win for Dern. Take the babe, take the free money. I do love myself some Mackenzie Dern!
