Across The Pond Profile: Oktagon MMA fighter Jake McHugh

With the expansion to the farther reaches of the United Kingdom in the coming years well underway, a new generation is poised to add an extra coat of lustre along with shine to what many consider to be the UK’s leading gym. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will meet the latest Oktagon Challenge representative ready to pen a series of chapters for the promotion at featherweight following an early exit from the competition. A professional mixed martial artist since November 2023 and representing Next Generation Liverpool, Jake McHugh holds a 1-0 record with his lone win during his time in the professional ranks coming via submission. He has spent his entire professional career with Oktagon MMA.

McHugh has never gone to the scorecards at any juncture over the duration of his career as a professional MMA fighter. He is 1-0 under the Oktagon MMA banner with a single finish under his belt in his only appearance with the organization. The one and only finish during McHugh’s career as a professional mixed martial artist has come within the second round with a time of two minutes and 32 seconds and has a 100 percent. He fought for several promotions as an amateur including Full Contact Contender prior to turning professional. McHugh appeared on Oktagon Challenge as a member of Team England in 2023.

In his professional MMA debut and promotional debut with Oktagon MMA at Oktagon 49, He faced Ivan Klevets and went on to submit him via triangle choke in the second round. The victory earned McHugh the first submission win of his professional career in addition to securing his first victory and finish under the Oktagon MMA banner in the process. No matter how large the spotlight shines down, McHugh always manages to slay his proverbial dragon be it on the regional circuit or in front of an away crowd!
