Bo Nickal has his eyes on Khamzat Chimaev for a potential matchup.
Bo Nickal is a rising star in American professional mixed martial arts. Currently competing in the UFC middleweight division, he has showcased his skills and determination in the world of combat sports. Nickal’s journey extends beyond mixed martial arts, racking up a decorated successful career in freestyle wrestling.
Boasting an impressive unbeaten record. His last three victories have been particularly noteworthy, as they came against formidable opponents such as former title challenger Gilbert Burns, Kevin Holland, and, most recently, the ex-welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, whom he faced at middleweight. These victories have placed Chimaev into the spotlight, solidifying his status in the UFC.
Chimaev vs Nickal?
Bo Nickal returned to The MMA Hour, sharing his insights on Chimaev’s middleweight debut against Kamaru Usman. Speaking with host Ariel Helwani, Nickal expressed his impressions of Chimaev‘s performance at UFC 294, where the fighter moved up from welterweight.
Despite being impressed with Chimaev’s showing, Nickal maintained his confidence in his ability to emerge victorious in a hypothetical matchup against Borz.
“He’s a tough guy, of course,”
“When you have a guy like Kamaru Usman, who is one of the all-time greats at his weight class, he was a champion, defended the belt multiple times, good wrestling base, and is able to take him down and control him like what he did in the first round, I think there’s a lot to be said for that.
“But at the same time, I believe in myself and I think my skills match up very well against him. I feel like that’s a fight that I win.” Said Nickal in an appearance on MMA Hour.
Dana White on the Matchup
Earlier, Chimaev at UFC 294 media day commented on Bo Nickal’s callout saying:
“I think big bulls*it, this guy,”
“I don’t know what he’s saying. He’s not wrestling for the points, man. Here, we don’t play wrestling.
“I don’t care if somebody takes me down, I’m going to come up and smash his face. I don’t think this guy is going to come to the cage and come and take me down. It’s not wrestling. We don’t stay like wrestlers.”
When asked about the matchup UFC Boss Dana White commented for Bo Nickal saying let’not get crazy here. Indicating how good Khamzat Chimaev is at his sport with an undeafeated record.
As the chatter around a potential showdown between Bo Nickal and Khamzat Chimaev continues to gain momentum, fight fans eagerly await the possibility of witnessing these two rising stars collide in the UFC middleweight division.
