For hometown heroes, earning a victory tastes all the sweeter as the ultimate reward for the hard work and many a sleepless night that often accompanies those who devote their lives to the athletic profession in an endless arc of dedication. In today’s episode of Across The Pond, you will meet a guardian keeper of victory’s faith ready to put on his war gloves in the co-main event of Med City Fighting Championships from Graham Arena on April 27. A professional mixed martial artist since September 2018 and representing Start BJJ and Xtreme Couture, Tyler Mathison holds a 5-2 record in seven bouts comprised of three knockouts and two decisions. He has fought for Legacy Fighting Alliance and Cage Fury Fighting Championships. Mathison has finished three out of his five victories overall over the course of his career as a professional MMA fighter. All three of his finishes during his time in the professional MMA ranks have been inside of two rounds. Both of Mathison’s decision wins have been via a unanimous verdict sweeping them clean across the board on each occasion.

In his MMA debut at OFP Warrior Games 3, he defeated Marcelo Dantas jr via technical knockout in round two. Mathison defeated Keith Phathaem via unanimous decision in his promotional debut with Legacy Fighting Alliance at LFA 64. Then at Aftermath Combat Sports Aftermath 1, he defeated Casey Goulet via TKO in the first round. Mathison defeated Eddy Torres via unanimous decision in the main event of CFFC 116 to earn his second decision win as a professional.

In his second appearance with Legacy Fighting Alliance on the preliminary card of LFA 168, he defeated Griffin Parriott via technical knockout in the second round. The victory scored Mathison the third knockout win of his professional career. He also secured his fifth win overall as a professional in the process. On April 27, he will face Matt Gaffney in a featherweight contest in the co-main event of Med City Fighting Championships 2. Good luck Tyler!
