Gerard Burns is taking a huge risk this weekend at BRAVE CF 89, as he moves up to Bantamweight to fight Santiago Paiva. Gerard Burns has been perfect so far in the BRAVE CF Flyweight division.

Irish superstar Gerard Burns has already gained recognition in BRAVE Combat Federation with his impressive performances in the Flyweight division and now, at BRAVE CF 89, Burns is set to challenge himself further by moving up to Bantamweight to face Brazilian rising star Santiago Paiva, marking a new chapter in his career as he seeks to prove himself in a higher weight class.

Burns made his debut in BRAVE CF at BRAVE CF 80 last year, where he delivered a quick finish by stopping Hussain Maki in the first round, making a statement in his debut. He soon returned to action at BRAVE CF 81 in Slovenia, where he faced Danijel Špoljarić. Once again, Burns dominated the fight, securing his second consecutive first-round finish. With these victories, he became the first Flyweight in BRAVE CF history to achieve two back-to-back first-round knockouts, establishing himself as a leading contender in a division still awaiting its first champion.

Currently on an impressive four-fight winning streak, Burns is now taking a huge risk by moving up to Bantamweight to face a larger opponent. Santiago Paiva, who comes into the fight with a three-fight winning streak, poses a major challenge with all his career victories coming via submission, making him a dangerous opponent for Burns, who is known for his striking skills.

Although the decision to move up in weight class puts Burns’ winning streak on the line, it also presents an opportunity for him to showcase his capabilities as a future contender in the Bantamweight division. A victory would establish him as a threat in both Flyweight and Bantamweight divisions.

At the same time, an impressive win could also push the case of Burns for a potential matchup with Muhammad Mokaev, who recently returned to the BRAVE CF roster and has caught Burns’ interest.

BRAVE CF 89 will take place on October 19 at Pabellón Santiago Martín in Tenerife, in partnership with Fight2One. The event concludes BRAVE Combat Federation’s “Around the World in 70 Days” tour, which featured events in China, Pakistan, Bulgaria, the Netherlands, and Slovenia.
